A three dimensional compressive reactive two-phase CFD-model including LES (Large Eddy Simulation) turbulence model was built and applied to combustion of a dust jet in air. The full set of conservation equations were simplified where feasible not trading off accuracy. The combustion was modeled with a single irreversible forward reaction using first order kinetics, and ignition was defined as a temperature threshold only to simplify the energy equation as much as possible. The model seemed to be satisfactorily realistic by qualitative measures by video recordings and by the fact, that the flameholder designed using the model works in practice.
