The extremely high contrast needed for detection of Earth-like planets in visible light, 1010, puts severe requirements on optical stability and control. The greatest obstacle for the different imaging systems to achieve this contrast is wavefront estimation and correction. In this talk I will present several of these optical instruments, explain the difficulty in the estimation and correction and will show some of the solution we developed for this, along with results from our lab at JPL.
